An exceptionally comfortable design with a small footprint that takes inspiration from classic French armchairs that are narrow, deep and low. Created with space efficiency and city living in mind, the design is one of contrasting volumes, with large fully-upholstered sections set against slimline solid wood arms that utilise hidden fastenings for visual refinement. The frame has been engineered for strength and durability, while the makeup of the upholstery gives the design a real lounging comfort and the ability to spring back into shape.
A bed version of the experimental Puffer design that utilises natural materials to create a soft and rounded kind of comfort. A love of simple shapes and the idea of comfort as a function led to the creation of this design. Inspired by the ubiquitous feather-filled Puffer jacket, the design creates a kind of enclosure for the user
A compact version of Malouin’s Puffer collection made from natural and sustainable materials. This version is intended for smaller sized spaces, and offers a kind of comfort that suggests spending hours and hours in it. Impressively comfortable, this piece shows a deep understanding of the possibilities of traditional upholstery making.
A generously proportioned cantilever chair made from tubular steel, with a plywood seat and backrest. Archer respectively references the epoch defining tubular steel chairs first produced a century ago, while featuring a number of details that make it resolutely modern. The design utilises the material elegance of formed tubing to give the chair the right amount of spring, providing both comfort and a little dynamism.
Initially launched to critical acclaim in 2009, the SCP Boxed Collection challenged designers to create smaller-scale pieces that fit within the dimensions of a standard shipping box. SCP has revisited the Boxed Collection brief, inviting a mix of established designers and emerging talent to explore the concept once again. Designers include, Oscar Coakley, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Matthew Hilton, Michael Marriott, Andu Masebo, Jasper Morrison, Barber Osgerby, Elliot Payne, Ted Synnott, Jonah Takagi, and Donna Wilson.
