On the Wednesday of LDF (17 September, 4pm), SCP’s editor Duncan Riches will host a talk with Marriott at SCP’s showroom. Marriott is a much-loved fixture of the creative London scene, with an interesting portfolio of work and unconventional approach to the industry.

WoodMetalPlastic by Michael Marriott is an evolving raft of objects. Sometimes one-offs or prototypes, sometimes production pieces. They are mostly made of wood, metal or plastic, and sometimes a combination of these, and occasionally others too. For LDF 2025, Marriott installs a pop-up market stall at SCP to sell his charming objects.
As one of SCP’s first designers, his relationship with the brand began in the 1990’s when he designed pieces such as the Croquet shelving and Missed daybed in ‘97 and ’98 respectively. The Missed daybed was re-issued in 2015 as part of the SCP Classics Collection, he then designed the Italy side tables for the SCP Editions Collection in the same year.
Marriott collaborated with SCP on The Arrangement of Furniture; an exhibition and book for the 30th year celebrations in 2015; for both the Milan Salone exhibition and at the Design Museum in London. He also curated the tongue-in-cheek Bürstenhaus Redecker Museum exhibition at SCP during LDF 2018. Most recently Marriott has designed furniture for SCP‘s Ishinomaki Collection and the 2025 Boxed Collection.
