Over 90% of our upholstery range uses sustainable and natural materials, and a few use foam and where necessary. Using natural materials in upholstery requires more skill and time, but we think it is worth it.

Hessian is a traditional textile made from jute fibres and is often called burlap.

Recycled foam

Reconstituted foam made from recycled material – used if necessary, as a base layer under latex and coconut fibre.

Latex & coconut fibres

Latex & coconut fibres

A mixture of latex and coconut husks. Made by twisting the husks and then spraying with latex to create a lofted sheet material which we use as the main substitute for foam.

Made with recycled wool – a heavy needled felt with a strong woven back.

Duck and goose feathers – certified and produced under strict specifications, compliant with the most stringent international standards and regulations.

Petrochemical foams – used reluctantly on a few products until we can find suitable natural materials and techniques to eliminate them.

Frames, Legs & Feet

FFC approved – used for the main frame structure of sofas and armchairs. Screwed, dowelled and or glued.

FFC approved – Used where appropriate to reduce weight.

Used as a base layer for seats and backs to support upholstery layers.

FSC approved - European oak, walnut, beech, and American walnut.

Cushions

Cushion Type A: Feather

A soft cushion filling that requires plumping when necessary. The filling is 100% Duck and Goose feather. We offer this cushion as standard but the following options are also available on request.
