SCP’s range of upholstery that uses 100% natural and sustainable materials requires more skill and time, but we think it is worth it. Here are the full details of the materials in our designs.

Hessian is a traditional textile made from jute fibres and is often called burlap.

Latex & coconut fibres

Latex & coconut fibres

A mixture of latex and coconut husks. Made by twisting the husks and then spraying with latex to create a lofted sheet material which we use as the main substitute for foam.

Natural latex used as a direct foam replacement or in combination with wool and feather in cushions.

Feathers

Feathers

Duck and goose feathers, certified and cruelty free. Produced under strict specifications, compliant with the most stringent international standards and regulations.

Frames, Legs & Feet

Solid beech

Solid beech

FSC approved, used for the main frame structure of sofas and armchairs. Screwed, dowelled and or glued.

Poplar plywood

Poplar plywood

FSC approved, birch used for facing of armrests and frame elements, while poplar used where appropriate to reduce weight.

Jute webbing

Jute webbing

Used as a base layer for seats and backs to support upholstery layers.

Solid wood legs

Solid wood legs

FSC approved - European oak, walnut, beech, and American walnut.

Cushions

Cushion Type A: Feather

A soft cushion filling that requires plumping when necessary. The filling is 100% Duck and Goose feather. We offer this cushion as standard but the following options are also available on request.
