Jason Miller is an American designer based in Brooklyn NYC, he is also the founder of contemporary lighting brand Roll & Hill. For Roll & Hill he has designed a series of iconic light collections, including Modo, Endless and Fiddlehead. His designs are often made in various configurations, including suspension, pendant, wall and table versions. He takes a conceptual approach to creating functional objects, resulting in graphically engaging and elegant products.
Miller was born in New York and grew up in Darien, Connecticut. This suburban upbringing heavily influenced his early, more conceptual pieces, which included duct-tapped chairs and cracked vases. It still informs much of his work, which is historically rich and elegant in conception. After Miller received an MFA in painting he went on to work in both the art and advertising worlds, but soon decided that he preferred making things to documenting them. Today, Miller runs both Jason Miller Studio and Roll & Hill from his headquarters in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
