SCP is opening the courtyard at its forthcoming Clerkenwell Showroom and HQ during Clerkenwell Design Week (19-21 May).
The event previews the new SCP location, ahead of the official opening in July. Visitors are invited to explore the outdoor display, which features furniture and accessories by Grythyttan Stålmöbler, HAY, Shore Studios and String Furniture.
SCP’s new Clerkenwell location is being designed in collaboration with Nice Projects. It will bring together the company’s own-brand furniture and upholstery collections alongside a broader multi-brand offering for residential and commercial interiors. Situated around a central courtyard and spread across multiple floors in a townhouse setting, the new space is set to bring SCP’s idiosyncratic style to a new area of London.
Founded in Sweden in 1895, Grythyttan Stålmöbler is known for outdoor furniture designed for durability and comfort. Combining timber with forged steel, the company’s collections are rooted in a long tradition of Swedish craftsmanship and practical design.
The courtyard presentation will include pieces from the Bovik series, which builds on Grythyttan’s classic spring steel construction with slimmer teak slats and a lighter, more refined silhouette. SCP will also showcase the High Tech series by Nisse Strinning, originally designed in 1984. Defined by its modernist steel frame and futuristic expression, the collection has become a longstanding design suited to both exterior and interior settings.
SCP is pleased to introduce Shore Studios, the London-based design studio founded by Louie Rigano and Gil Muller. Working across furniture, ergonomic soft furnishings, home accessories and material development, Shore Studios is known for its woven high-performance silicone material, developed and produced entirely in-house using bespoke techniques informed by extensive research and an experimental craft approach.
The courtyard presentation will include Shore’s curved sofa. Durable, non-toxic and suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings, the woven silicone designs combine technical performance with a refined handcrafted character.
Founded in Sweden in 1949, String Furniture is recognised for its modular shelving systems designed to adapt across different spaces and uses. SCP’s presentation will include outdoor shelving and storage solutions intended for terraces, courtyards and garden environments.
SCP will present a selection of outdoor designs by HAY, including the Palissade Cantilever Lounge Chair and Palissade Cord Dining Bench by Ronan Bouroullec, alongside the Terrazza Parasol. Combining durable materials with a restrained and functional design language, the collection is intended for a wide range of outdoor settings, from gardens and terraces to public spaces.
