Roll & Hill

An overview of the new collection of wall, ceiling and pendant lights by our long-term collaborator from the US, Roll & Hill.

As part of SCP’s Soft Power exhibition during the London Design Festival 2023, we are delighted to introduce a new collection of lights from Roll & Hill.

SCP has been working closely with Roll & Hill for over a decade, and we have become accustomed to their new collections being filled with large-scale lavish pieces, but in this launch, we discern something quite different.

The collection is much quieter than we have come to expect, populated with simple forms, pleasing juxtapositions and neat practical touches. Created by Oregon based designer Nash Martinez, the collection features pieces entitled Arch, Grace, Koko, Slope, Surface, Strike and Valo.

All this paired back simplicity can be attributed to Martinez’s approach to developing this collection. He began his career as a 20th Century design dealer, with a specialism in lighting, he only moved into design once his acute sense of form and material had been honed. This collection is the result of his meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of how lighting changes a room.
