In the UK launch of Calico, SCP are pleased to present designs at both SCP Curtain Road and SCP Pimlico Road. The designs exhibited here include Wabi in the Cloud colourway and Aurora in the Azure colourway.
Calico Wallpaper are a US based company that was founded by Rachel and Nick Cope. They were inspired to create a brand that could bring art beyond the frame and incorporate its elements into everyday interior spaces. Through experimentation with the re-appropriation of traditional art forms, and the digital enlargement of unique, handmade patterns, their idea is to create custom fit, non-repeating wall murals. They balance background and foreground, texture, colour and pattern to create immersive environments, and are continually exploring the expressive possibilities of living space.
Visit our exhibition of Calico wallpapers at both our Shoreditch and Belgravia showrooms until Sunday.

Prism
Launching during London Design Festival 2019, Prism is a new ambient collection that plays with the idea of refracted and diffused light. It celebrates the simple beauty of sunlight, and a prism’s miraculous ability to reveal the complete spectrum of colours contained within a single beam of light.
Wabi
Wabi was inspired by a rare sample of antique paper found by chance in a New York curiosity shop. Moved by the intricate and evolving microcosmic shapes, Calico experimented with contemporizing the pattern, melding traditional marbling techniques with modern designs to create a series of unique signature styles. Wabi’s fluid design is influenced by Wabi-Sabi and acknowledges the beauty in impermanence, transience, and imperfection.
Inverted Spaces
Inverted Spaces explores the beauty of the infinite expansion of the universe. Gazing up at the distant light of the planets and stars, we see that we are but a speck in a stunning sky. A collaboration with Amsterdam’s BCXSY concept design studio, Inverted Spaces transforms NASA satellite imagery into a series of constellational portraits. Enlisting the help of a matte-painting studio they scaled and enlarged the imagery while retaining the quality of the originals. The result is a six pattern celestial collection that is at once playful and profound.
Aura
An Aura is a field of subtle, luminous energy surrounding a person or object thought to emanate from a vital force that flows through all things. The Aura Collection by Calico is inspired by the process of revelation of these unseen fields – it translates unseen energies into visual imagery. Each colorway offers a glimpse into a key element of our inner essence, the core qualities that drive and influence us and connect us to the cycle and flow of the universe.
Aurora
Often used in meditation rooms, the Aurora collection is designed to immerse viewers in waves and washes of atmospheric color. Each Aurora pattern is a study in the relationship between light, color, place, and mood. Inspired by the horizons at dawn and the phenomena of light, Aurora explores the emotions expressed by the ever-changing sky.
