Design Under the Hammer

On Monday next week (10th October), for one night only, SCP East will become an Auction House for design, as we host the one-off sale of furniture created for The Thing With MaltaSingh exhibition that took place during the London Design Festival. Hosted by Max Fraser, the evening promises to be a boisterous affair of nods, winks and bidding wars.

Initiated by Carl Clerkin, Danny Clarke and Jasleen Kaur, The Thing With MaltaSingh exhibition took place at the Gallery SO on Brick Lane. It showcased new furniture designs that were created using broken, damaged and unusable pieces that had accumulated at the SCP warehouse. In keeping with our London Design Festival theme of #Forever, we loved the idea of things that were unusable becoming functional again. Now is the time to set these pieces free.

Designs by Neil Austin, Joe Buttigieg, Danny Clarke, Carl Clerkin, Fiona Davidson, Jochem Fraudet, Max Frommeld, Jon Harrison, Alex Hellum, Sam Johnson, Jasleen Kaur, Lucy Kurrein, Benny Magennis, Alric Marchand, Michael Marriott, Gareth Neal, Will Smith, Hans Stofer and William Warren.

For your chance to buy a piece from this one-off collection, come along on Monday next week to the SCP Auction House. An auction preview will take place from 8th October from 9.30am on the first floor of SCP East, where all the sale items can be viewed, with the auction itself beginning at 7pm on 10th October.

10% of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to Maggie’s.
