Including Jaime Hayon’s Formakami pendant lights. East meets West with the new hand-crafted series, which splices traditional Asian lantern design with Hayon’s signature aesthetic.
‘Lamps play such an important role in people’s lives,” explains Jaime about the collection. ‘For some cultures, they chase away the darkness and bring hope. I’ve tried to keep this emotional angle about light by making the bottom part of the lamp open. The idea is to bring even more illumination to people everywhere in the world.’
The Paper Lantern collection comes in three delicate designs, each handmade from ivory rice paper and punctuated with stained-oak fittings.
Also new for SS16 is the re-issued Bellevue light, designed by the master of Danish Modernism, Arne Jacobsen in 1928. The re-launch of the iconic lamp retains the original Bellevue shape – while a mixture of polished brass and a new matte colour palette instantly updates the collection.
Jacobsen’s preference for graceful lines and simple, organic forms are readily recognisable in the Bellevue lighting collection, which is available in four colourways – black, beige, bronze and white – across three styles: a floor, desk and wall light.
