Happy Chinese New Year

Gung hay fat choy!

Published: February 5, 2016

Amidst the Valentine’s Day hullaballoo, there are a billion other people gearing up to celebrate Chinese New Year – including us. We’re talking a weekend of dragons, decorations and dancing aplenty. And while the official date doesn’t kick off until 8th February, we’re swinging in the Year of the Monkey with everything you need to know about this year’s zodiac star.

Now, time to stop monkeying around and cast your eyes below.

Are you a Cheeky Monkey?
Yep if you were born in 2004, 1992, 1989 or 1968. Big congratulations to you, it’s set to be your lucky year. Your inner spirit animal is said to be smart, clever and intelligent, while problem-solving is your star sign’s main domain. Sound about right? Don’t go getting ahead of yourself just yet, this little monkey is also considered to be the most unlucky year of the Chinese calendar.

Lucky Charms
Make a beeline for these lucky dates, hues, flowers and even directions too.
– Lucky numbers: 1, 7, 8
– Hue to cue: white, gold and black
– Power flower: chrysanthemum and alliums (yeah, we had to google the second one too)
– Directions to follow: north, northwest and west

Starlight Express
SCP was founded during the Year of the Ox but what zodiac sign are you?
