Sofa in Sight is on the move. Tomorrow, the show will open at The Future Perfect showroom, New York. The sofa’s will be shown alongside a range of products which celebrate our thirty-year history, including new pieces that will be on show in the US for the first time. The show kicks off tomorrow evening with a talk hosted by the Future Perfect founder David Alhadeff, Sheridan Coakley and designers Matthew Hilton and Lucy Kurrein.
The exhibition, designed by Jonah Takagi of Atelier Takagi, displays products from the very first designs in 1985 by Jasper Morrison and Matthew Hilton to the latest pieces from Konstantin Grcic, Michael Anastassiades and Lucy Kurrein. It will showcase a clear design lineage that reflects the last thirty years.
In additional to archival work, the exhibition will mark the US debut of a new series, including a never-before-seen lounge chair by Konstantin Grcic, a shelving unit by Peter Marigold from the new SCP Editions collection and Michael Anastassiades’ first-ever sofa. The show will features a distinctive color palette selecte Alhadeff.
“It’s an honor to share in the 30 year celebration with SCP,” said Alhadeff. “Sheridan Coakley is one of the most avid supporters of new talent in the design industry. He was the first to introduce designs by Jasper Morrison and Konstantin Grcic, who are now recognised globally, and continues in the same tradition today scouting talent like Lucy Kurrein and Faudet-Harrison.”
